Phil Foden scored twice as Manchester City stormed into second place in the Premier League with a 4-1 dismantling of Brighton at the Amex on Saturday. An illegally shot common kestrel was found by a member of the public who reported the find to Birdlife Malta.  Wildlife photographer Benjamin Grech shared images of the shot protected bird on Saturday.  "Encounters like this leave me furious, sick to my stomach, and in tears," Grech wrote on Facebook. "Unlike me this bird, although in excruciating pain is voiceless and cannot cry anymore. A rider was injured when he fell from a sulky during a horse race in Marsa on Saturday afternoon. Police said the incident occured around 3pm. The rider, a 28-year old man from Pietà, was seriously injured and hospitalised for treatment.  Police investigations are ongoing.

Dozens gathered outside the Maltese embassy in London on Saturday calling for the Maltese authorities to drop charges against the 'ElHiblu3' and to stop coordinating illegal pushbacks. A 37-year old construction worker was grievously injured on Saturday morning while working in Naxxar. The incident took place at around 9.30am when the worker, a Ghanaian national living in Paola, fell from a ladder on a construction site in Triq l-Ifran, police said. The victim was given first aid on site and hospitalised for further treatment. Police investigations are ongoing.

Author and actor Joe Debono was floored by feelings of helplessness after losing the ability to speak due to the neurodegenerative disease ALS. Yet, the man known for playing comic character James Bondin remains dedicated to making life “beautiful for others”. Italy's former interior minister and far-right leader Matteo Salvini went on trial Saturday for allegedly illegally blocking over 100 migrants in dire sanitary conditions from disembarking from a rescue ship. Salvini, the leader of the far-right League party who is known for an "Italians first" policy, is charged with kidnapping and abuse of office for using his position as interior minister to detain the 147 migrants at sea in August 2019. Gozitan lawyers who have been taking action for almost a month will meet with the Justice Minister on Monday to try to reach common ground on fixing the deteriorating state of the Gozo courts. Earlier this month more than 100 sittings of the Gozo courts had to be postponed due to the second action in four months taken by lawyers over the poor condition of the courts. Annual children’s festival ŻiguŻajg returns at the end of November, with a hybrid programme that will see almost half of its productions as live shows. The ŻiguŻajg Arts for Children and Young People Festival 2021 will be held between November 19 and 28.  Its 2021 edition will combine virtual and in-person events, after the festival was forced to go online-only in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Top crude exporter Saudi Arabia will aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2060, its de facto ruler said on Saturday, days before the COP26 global climate summit. The kingdom, one of the world's biggest polluters, said it would also join a global effort to cut methane emissions by 30 per cent by 2030. The UN says more than 130 countries have set or are considering a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, a target it says is "imperative" to safeguard a livable climate. Just six new COVID-19 cases were reported on Saturday, with health authority data showing that 13 patients are currently receiving hospital treatment. Of those 13 hospitalised patients, three are at Mater Dei Hospital's intensive treatment unit.  On Friday, there were 14 patients in hospital. Four of them were receiving intensive care.  Saturday's tally of six new virus cases is the lowest daily count since early July.  There are currently 236 active cases in the country, with 21 patients having recovered overnight. Paul Zammit has been confirmed as the new coach of Balzan FC, the Premier League club announced. Balzan have been looking to install a new first-team coach after earlier this week they parted ways with Mark Miller. Zammit had immediately been put on the top of Balzan’s wishlist and after lengthy discussions between the two parties, an agreement was finally reached on Saturday morning. A man was rushed to hospital after he was hit by a car on a Marsa thoroughfare on Saturday morning. The man, who is from Nigeria, was hit by a Mazio Demio car driven by a 39-year-old woman from Birzebbuġa. He was hurt as he crossed Triq Dicembru 13 at 7.30am, a police spokesperson said.   A medical team was called to the site and took the victim to Mater Dei hospital, where he is being treated. It’s been more than a century since a significant tsunami struck Malta but the residents and workers of Marsaxlokk are being taught what to do in the possible eventuality of a 1.5m wall of water hitting the fishing village. A little after 10am on November 5, sirens will sound and everyone will have 45 minutes to evacuate to higher ground before the imaginary natural disaster occurs. Barcelona’s players met for dinner in a Catalan restaurant late on Wednesday night to celebrate Ansu Fati’s new contract and to bond ahead of Sunday’s Clasico against Real Madrid.
