Vietnam War medic receives Medal of Honor 48 years after saving 10 men in brutal battle
As a 23-year-old Army medic, James C. McCloughan ran repeatedly through fields of flying bullets to retrieve and treat wounded comrades in the midst of a deadly two-day battle. More than 48 years later, at 71, McCloughan was presented the United States’ top military honor on Monday.
