Floriana’s unbeaten run ends with defeat to Ħamrun Spartans

Ħamrun Spartans bounced back from the narrow defeat to Balzan as they defeated Floriana 2-1 – A win that puts the Spartans on level points with the Greens, Valletta, and Balzan. The Greens, therefore, suffered their first defeat after maintaining an unbeaten record in their first four matches. Although Floriana held the initiative in the early stages, Ħamrun went two goals ahead. Carlos Sainz drives Ferrari Dino 246 GT

Ferrari Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz took out one of the company's Dino 246 GT models for a spin around Ferrari's Fiorano track.  The Spanish driver described the experience as "raw", saying: "I didn't imagine it was going to be so different to the thing that we do nowadays." Introduced in 1969, the two-seater Dino 246 GT was a popular addition to the Ferrari lineup. Until production stopped in 1974, it went through three modifications. Boy, 10, grievously injured while riding bike

Times of Malta 

A 10-year old boy was grievously injured on Saturday when he was struck by a car while riding his bike in Qormi.  Police said the incident took place in Triq il-Flora at around 4.30pm. The driver was a 27-year old Qormi resident. The child received medical assistance on site before being hospitalised for further treatment.  Police investigations are ongoing.



Wolfsburg crash at Hoffenheim to leave Bayern three points clear

Wolfsburg crashed to a 3-1 defeat at Hoffenheim on Saturday to miss their chance of going level on points with Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga table. Maldini scores fairytale first goal as Milan go top of Serie A

Milan went top of Serie A on Saturday with a 2-1 win at Spezia in which Daniel Maldini followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps by scoring his first goal for the club on his full Serie A debut. Valletta succumbed to their third consecutive defeat of the season after a 2-0 defeat to Gudja United, at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday. Teenage cousin of MotoGP’s Maverick Vinales dies after race crash

Teenage Spanish motorcyclist Dean Berta Vinales, was killed Saturday during a race at the Jerez circuit in Spain, Superbike organisers announced.  The 15-year-old, a cousin of MotoGP rider Maverick Vinales, was involved in an accident during the first race of the WorldSSP300 class and died of chest and head injuries, the championship organisers said in a statement.  This was his first season competing in the class.  He was racing for the Vinales Racing Team, managed by Angel Vinales, Maverick’s father. Buskett Vaulted Grotto to be restored

The historic Vaulted Grotto in Buskett will be restored by Ambjent Malta in a project expected to cost €323,000, the environment ministry announced on Saturday. A peak in observed migration of birds of prey was met with "rampant" illegal hunting across Malta and Gozo on Friday, BirdLife Malta said. Used car importers want money poured into electric vehicle grants

Grants given for the registration of new petrol or diesel cars should be scrapped and the money instead poured into subsidies to encourage electric vehicles, used car importers have said.  The proposal, presented by the Malta Car Importers Association and Used Vehicles Importers Association, would raise the purchase prices of internal combustion engine vehicles while lowering those of electric equivalents.  The two associations said that additional electric vehicle grants could increase electric vehicle imports by up to 11,000 annually. 17 COVID patients in hospital as 16 new cases detected

A total of 17 COVID-19 patients are currently in hospital, with four of them in intensive care, Health Ministry data publishedż on Saturday showed. That hospitalisation figure is slightly higher than numbers one day ago, when there were 15 patients receiving hospital care. The number of ITU patients remained unchanged.
