Joe Biden will host the prime ministers of India, Japan and Australia for an in-person summit on September 24, the first-ever White House gathering of the "Quad" grouping, the president's office said on Monday. AC Milan on Monday asked the Italian Football Federation to investigate racist chants both the Serie A club and midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko said were directed at him by Lazio fans at the weekend. PN government would fund all cancer treatment: Bernard Grech

A prospective PN government would ensure treatment for any form of cancer is covered by the state, Opposition leader Bernard Grech said on Monday.   Speaking during a political activity in Mqabba, the leader of the Nationalist Party said the time had come to stop telling some cancer patients that they would have to pay for their own medical treatment or else depend on charity.  Some cancer patients are forced to resort to charities to secure life-saving treatment because the state does not provide certain drugs on its formulary list. A California man espousing white supremacist views and armed with a bayonet and a machete was arrested on Monday outside the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington, police said. Donald Craighead, 44, of Oceanside, California was arrested for possession of prohibited weapons, US Capitol Police said. Craighead was spotted outside DNC headquarters by law enforcement overnight in a Dodge Dakota pickup truck that had a swastika and other white supremacist symbols painted on it, police said. La Vuelta 2022 will start in Utrecht in the Netherlands, organisers announced on Monday.  The first three stages of the race will take place in the Dutch city, which was the starting point for last year’s edition before having to be cut due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Bernard Grech backs calls to allow Maltese residents to quarantine at home

A suspect drug trafficker, charged with complicity in an arson attack on his ex-girlfriend’s car two months ago, was denied bail after pleading not guilty on Monday.  Ian Zammit, a 32-year old Żejtun resident, employed as a garage manager, was escorted to court under arrest over his alleged involvement in the incident dating to July 6, the day when the suspected arson was flagged to the Birżebbuġa district police.  A report was filed on the day about a Range Rover that had caught fire on Triq il-Ġebel. The mother of a girl with Down Syndrome is appealing to the authorities to allow her daughter to quarantine at home when she returns from Nigeria, since being in closed, unfamiliar environments causes her untold anxiety. 35 COVID-19 patients in hospital

The number of COVID-19 patients in hospital rose marginally to 35 on Monday from 33 on Sunday as 35 new cases of the virus were detected. The heath authorities said in their midday bulletin that four patients remain in intensive care. A total of 43 patients recovered overnight, leaving 723 active cases. The number of vaccine doses has climbed to 805,479 doses, with 2,240 being booster doses.  Booster doses for immuno-suppressed persons started being administered on Monday.
