Convicted rapists are as likely to be Maltese as they are foreign, police figures for the past eight years show. The breakdown of convictions seen by this newspaper shows that 56 people have been convicted of rape since 2008 and half were Maltese – debunking the social media myth that foreigners were behind a recent spike in reports. A Dutchman has been sentenced to 30 days in jail under a rarely enforced 19th century law for intentionally insulting King Willem-Alexander, according to a court ruling published today. Mater Dei hospital employees who catch the bus to work can apply to receive up to €240 in the form of a public transport credit, the hospital announced today. Employees will get the credit when they give up their hospital parking permit.
