‘Double Lover’ is audacious — not great — but you’ll like its nerve
The pleasures of Francois Ozon’s “Double Lover” are entirely on the order of “Wow. He actually did that.” The first example of this is the movie’s very first shot: The screen is filled with a mysterious landscape of human viscera. And then the shot pulls back, and we realize that we have been looking at a vagina as seen through a speculum. Then Ozon tops this.
