LONDON (AP) — Police for the English city of Leicester say they are responding to a "major incident" after receiving reports of an explosion. Leicestershire Police said on Twitter that emergency services were dealing with the incident on Hinckley Road and asked the public to stay away from the area. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue said six fire engines were responding and the incident is being treated as a search and rescue operation. Leicester is 177 kilometers (110 miles) north of London.

SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) — Police say a man was critically injured by shots fired into a Pennsylvania bar and a suspect in the shooting was later found dead. Scranton police said a man kicked out of Bigsy's Bar and Grill in west Scranton at about 2 a.m. Sunday pulled a gun and began shooting into the bar, striking a patron. SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A New Mexico boy who authorities said endured years of abuse and was found buried along the side of a rural highway had not attended school for several months. Jeremiah Valencia's mother, Tracy Pena, pulled him out of a Las Vegas, New Mexico, middle school in February 2017 and told school officials she would enroll him in a Santa Fe school. ODENTON, Md. (AP) — Detectives are investigating the deaths of two people found inside a house in Odenton. The Baltimore Sun reports that Anne Arundel County police were called to the house early Sunday after an adult family member told authorities that that two people were dead inside. Kalamazoo Public Safety Lt. David Thomas said the body was found floating in water Sunday on the city's east side. ASHLAND, Va. (AP) — Two people have died after a single-vehicle crash in Hanover County. The Virginia State Police say a Ford Escape with Wisconsin plates veered off Interstate 95 early Sunday. The car struck a tree, then overturned on the driver's side before catching fire. The remains of the driver and the passenger were transported to the medical examiner's office. Their identities were not immediately released in a Sunday statement by the Virginia State Police. The deadly crash is under investigation.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Montana authorities are investigating reports that cattle were deprived of food and water on a ranch owned by a former state lawmaker. Rosebud County Sheriff Allen Fulton says authorities received an anonymous report of animal neglect in January. An inspector confirmed that report with a visit to the ranch owned by former state Rep. SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A new report says overdose deaths linked to heroin have soared in Utah. The Deseret News reports a study by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 166 Utah resident fatally overdosed on heroin in 2016, compared to 127 a year before. The report says that's more than triple the number who died from the drug in 2007.
