From the bench: Unfair or fair dismissal

Times of Malta

Employment law (chapter 452 of the Laws of Malta – Employment and Industrial Relations Act) seeks, among others, to regulate employment dismissal. The spirit of the law attempts to create a safety net that shrouds the employee – being the weaker party in terms of the employment contract – from being dismissed arbitrarily and unjustly. It must be said that the law does not stipulate a specific procedure as to how dismissal is to be effected. A popular belief perhaps is that before dismissal, the... Читать дальше...

Borrell, speaking to AFP from Spain in a telephone interview, added that "we have complained" to the Americans that their security at Kabul airport was overly strict and hampering attempts by Afghans who worked for the Europeans to enter. August 31 is the deadline the United States had announced for... Читать дальше...

Times of Malta

The divorced wife of a Spanish diplomat stationed in Malta is claiming that her former husband is “abusively” invoking diplomatic immunity to prevent her from seeing their two sons.  In a judicial protest, the woman is alleging that the father of two was effectively side-stepping the orders of a family court, which grants the mother weekly supervised access to the two boys.  Diplomatic immunity gives members of the diplomatic corps legal immunity from prosecution within the countries in which they are hosted. Times of Malta

SUVs have quickly become a huge part of Renault. But there’s always room for more additions, and here we have the Arkana – a new model that’s aiming to inject some extra style to the range thanks to its ‘coupe’-like shape. It’s Renault’s first SUV to adopt this body style, and is one of the first to do so at this more affordable end of the spectrum. Читать дальше...
