Hurricane Grace left at least eight people dead as it tore through eastern Mexico Saturday, causing flooding, power blackouts and damage to homes before gradually losing strength over mountains. The storm made landfall in Mexico for a second time during the night near Tecolutla in Veracruz state as a major Category Three storm, triggering warnings of mudslides and significant floods. Mental health patients are having to pay for costly psychiatric drugs, 10 months after the government promised they would be free, according to the Mental Health Association. In last October’s budget speech, the government said it would provide new psychiatric medicine through the government formulary as part of its mental health strategy. The divorced wife of a Spanish diplomat stationed in Malta is claiming that her former husband is “abusively” invoking diplomatic immunity to prevent her from seeing their two sons.  In a judicial protest, the woman is alleging that the father of two was effectively side-stepping the orders of a family court, which grants the mother weekly supervised access to the two boys.  Diplomatic immunity gives members of the diplomatic corps legal immunity from prosecution within the countries in which they are hosted. An 88-year-old man died while infected with COVID-19 while healthcare workers detected 68 new virus cases, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.  There are currently 664 known active virus cases in the country, with 36 of those patients - 5.4 per cent - receiving treatment in hospital. Three of those hospitalised patients require intensive care, up from the two ITU patients registered on Friday.  The 88-year-old virus victim announced on Saturday was the 436th person to die while infected since the pandemic began in Malta in March 2020. After weeks of being out of service due to refurbishment works, two of the three lifts at the Mater Dei Hospital car park will be operational again in the coming days.
