Zimbabwe's ruling party will dismiss President Robert Mugabe on Sunday and reinstate Emmerson Mnangagwa, the vice-president he fired, two party sources told Reuters on Saturday, as ecstatic crowds celebrated the expected downfall. Roma leapfrogged city rivals Lazio and put themselves firmly in Serie A title contention with a hard-fought 2-1 win in the Stadio Olimpico. Two goals in four minutes early in the second half from Diego Perotti and Radja Nainggolan were enough to move Eusebio Di Francesco's side up to third after an impressive sixth straight win in all competitions. A man was grievously injured followed an accident near a fireworks factory in Għaxaq on Saturday afternoon.  Police said the 29-year-old was burning waste connected with the manufacturing of fireworks in the area known as tal-Garda. The incident happened at 5pm. The victim was given first aid on the spot by a medical team before he was rushed to hospital for further treatment.  Police are investigating.

Italian football federation (FIGC) president Carlo Tavecchio said he has not slept since Monday's World Cup elimination which he blamed firmly on coach Gian Piero Ventura. Ventura was sacked on Wednesday, two days after a goalless draw at home to Sweden meant that Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1958. An anti-corruption MEP called upon the Maltese not live in fear of speaking out and warned people about the danger of getting into a "comfort zone". The helicopter pilot who was among four people to die after a mid-air collision with an aircraft has been named locally as Captain Mike Green. Captain Phil Croucher, who served in the Army with Mr Green, said his death in the crash over Waddesdon, Buckinghamshire on Friday, was a "sad loss". The head of training at the Caledonian Advanced Pilot Training Ground School also said he believed the crash was an accident and no negligence was involved. A Dutch architect who drew up plans for Gżira Gardens last year had pleaded for more space to be allocated for a comprehensive development as part of the marine privatisation, saying it could provide more parking and also make it more financially viable. Manchester City maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League season with a 2-0 win at Leicester. Gabriel Jesus’ 10th goal of the campaign in all competitions put the league leaders in front on the stroke of half-time following a wonderful team move. An annual average of 22,000 children are treated in the children's emergency section of Mater Dei Hospital, Health Minister Chris Fearne said on Saturday. The section has been operating for two years, the minister said when addressing a seminar focusing on developments in pediatric care. Legendary guitarist and AC/DC co-founder Malcolm Young has died aged 64. Known for the powerhouse riffs and rhythm guitar that propelled the Australian group to superstardom, Young had been suffering from dementia for the past three years. Many women who follow initial breast cancer treatment with five years of hormone therapy to keep tumors at bay may still experience new malignancies up to two decades after their diagnosis, a study suggests. Researchers examined data from 88 clinical trials involving 62,923 women with estrogen receptor (ER)-positive tumors. After treating ER-positive tumors with chemotherapy, radiation or surgery, women typically get five years of follow-up therapy with daily hormone-based pills – either tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors. The Labour Party paid tribute to Joe Attard, the Żejtun mayor who passed away earlier on Saturday. Apart from serving as mayor of his locality for 21 years, Mr Attard was also the first chairman of One Productions. Mr Attard gave a major push towards the cultural sector in Malta, with initiatives like Iljieli Mediterranji as well as his locality where he was president of the Żejtun band club, the PL said in a statement.
