(AP) — Officials behind a planned hotel and garage development in Vermont's capital say they are pushing for a speedy environmental review before they sign a contract with Hilton Hotels. HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) — Attendance at Kansas State Fair increased this year, thanks to sunny weather, popular concerts and new activities. Preliminary tallies for the 2018 fair show 327,965 people attended this year's fair, a 1.76 percent increase over the 2017 fair, when 322,278 fairgoers were counted. (AP) — A relaxed weekend afternoon turned into chaos at an upstate New York spot popular with tourists taking in the fall foliage when a crash involving a limousine left 20 people dead, officials said Sunday. MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Kansas State will stop offering the Putnam Scholarship to students. The Putnam was a $9,000 per year scholarship, which a student could have for four years. Pat Bosco, dean of student life, says the university is shifting its scholarships from totally merit-based to need plus merit-based. BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Romanians voted Sunday on a constitutional amendment that would make it harder to legalize same-sex marriage, but the referendum was at risk of being invalidated after voters failed to participate in large numbers. The proposed amendment would change the definition of family in Romania's Constitution to make marriage a union between a man and a woman instead of between "spouses." The Daily Times in Salisbury, Maryland, reported that 57-year-old Shawn P. Dailey was arrested Wednesday night in Rehoboth Beach. Police said they pulled Dailey over after he failed to properly signal for a turn. They also said he was driving with a suspended license. MORGAN CITY, La. (AP) — A south Louisiana man has been arrested in connection with the death of a retired principal. Morgan City police say they arrested 50-year-old Michael Guidry on Saturday, booking him with first-degree murder, bank fraud and violating his parole. Guidry, a Morgan city resident, is accused of killing 70-year-old Patricia Lyn Russo. Her body was found Monday inside her home.
