FLORENCE, Colo. (AP) — The owner of a southern Colorado bowling alley has died after getting stuck in a pin setting machine. Police in Florence, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) southwest of Denver, say they responded to a call early Sunday afternoon and found 65-year-old Ector Rodriguez of Penrose stuck in the machine at Fremont Lanes. He was unconscious and not breathing. Emergency responders determined he had died. Florence Police Chief Michael De Laurentis says no foul play is suspected and the death is believed to be an accident.

WASHINGTON — Stricter Trump administration immigration policies have stymied Pentagon plans to restart a program that allowed thousands of people with critical medical or Asian and African language skills to join the military and become American citizens, according to several U.S. officials. ORLANDO — Police officers in Florida on Monday fatally shot an unarmed patient they say told hospital emergency room workers that he had a gun and that “it was going to end right here today.” Orlando Police Chief John Mina said during a news conference that the man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center for a medical condition. PALU, Indonesia — As officials began burying hundreds of victims in a mass grave Monday, thousands of survivors of a devastating earthquake and tsunami converged on the airport in heavily damaged Palu and clamored to leave, saying there was little to eat and their homes were unsafe. DETROIT (AP) — Two teens and a 26-year-old man are charged in the thefts of new vehicles from a storage lot near a Fiat Chrysler assembly plant in Detroit. BARRE, Mass. (AP) — Police say after a Massachusetts woman died in an all-terrain vehicle crash, her brother got upset with his sister's boyfriend for her death, so set fire to his truck. Barre police tell the Telegram & Gazette that 44-year-old Heather Barnicle, of Barre, was operating an ATV that struck a mailbox and then a large rock at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — A judge has sentenced a former Sioux City special education teacher to probation after she admitted to stealing from a school account for Special Olympics and other programs. The Sioux City Journal reports District Judge Steven Andreasen on Monday sentenced 49-year-old Melissa Dickerson, of Sioux City, to five years of probation. (AP) — The Missouri attorney general's office says an 11-month audit determined that at least 5,424 rape kits remain untested across the state, but a new federal grant might help reduce the backlog.
