(AP) — A car exploded on a downtown street in what authorities called a "criminal incident," leaving three people dead and leading to a shelter-in-place order for nearby residents and an investigation by federal, state and local authorities. BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts' highest court will soon hear the case of a young woman convicted of involuntary manslaughter for sending text messages to her suicidal boyfriend urging him to kill himself. The Supreme Judicial Court will hear arguments Thursday in Michelle Carter's case. The Plainville woman was convicted in June in Conrad Roy's 2014 death and later was sentenced to 15 months in jail. SOUTHWICK, Mass. (AP) — Two people have died in a weekend house fire in Massachusetts. The fire in a single-family home in Southwick was reported at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday. No names were released but authorities say both victims were adults. A third adult in the home escaped unharmed. NEW YORK (AP) — The brother of a 4-year-old who died after being tossed from a New York City apartment has been arrested on a murder charge. Police say 20-year-old Sawn Smith was taken into custody shortly after his brother, Shimron Smith, was found unconscious and unresponsive in the courtyard of a Brooklyn building early Saturday morning. TRURO, Mass. (AP) — Authorities have recovered the body of a 26-year-old man who went missing while swimming on Cape Cod. Truro police say the body was recovered just before 8 a.m. Sunday about one mile north of Ballston Beach. The man's name has not been made public.
