FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) — The World Ice Art Championships has a new home. The ice sculpting event recently reached a 22-year rental agreement with the Tanana Valley State Fair, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported last week. "This is kind of our forever home," said Bernie Karl, president of the Ice Alaska nonprofit organization that runs the event. "We should have been here to begin with." ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) — A southern Wyoming man who fatally shot his girlfriend has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. The Rock Springs Rocket-Miner reports 42-year-old Stephen Taranovich struck a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty Tuesday in the Jan. 28 death of 43-year-old Danielle Martin. He is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday. Taranovich, who was facing a charge of second-degree murder, told investigators he unintentionally shot Martin in the head when he took a .40-caliber handgun out of his back pocket to clean it. BRIDGEVILLE, Del. (AP) — Police in Delaware say they're investigating a helicopter crash that has sent three people to the hospital. Delaware State Police said in a statement that the crash occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The craft came down on a produce farm in Bridgeville, which is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) from Dover. State police said that initial reports of the crash stated that there no injuries. MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina man is dead after a gunshot ended a bar fight at Myrtle Beach restaurant. Local media report 25-year-old Roger Ramos died after 1 a.m. Sunday at Riptydz Oceanfront Grille. Myrtle Beach Police say Ramos was shot during a fight. Police say he was on the sidewalk outside a home on Chicago's northwest side around 10:15 p.m. Saturday when shots were fired. He was with an 18-year-old man who was shot in the leg and survived. BEIRUT (AP) — Jamal Khashoggi, the Saudi journalist who disappeared last week after a visit to his country's consulate in Turkey, was a Saudi insider. He was a close aide to the kingdom's former spy chief and a leading voice in the country's prominent dailies, including the main English newspapers. The Sharks have placed forward Joe Thornton on injured reserve. Thornton has returned to San Jose after experiencing swelling in his surgically repaired right knee. He won’t be available until at least next Sunday. The Sharks recalled center Dylan Gambrell from the AHL on Sunday to take Thornton’s place. San Jose plays Monday against the New York Islanders. Thornton, 39, is coming off his second straight year undergoing reconstructive knee surgery. He played the first two games for the Sharks and has one assist.

It doesn’t take a basketball savant to appreciate Damian Jones’ upside. At a chiseled 7-foot, 245 pounds, he boasts a 7-foot-3¾-inch wingspan and a 36-inch vertical leap. The question with Jones has long been whether his intensity, focus and general feel for the game would catch up to his physical tools. For someone so athletic, he has often looked awkward, like he is not yet comfortable in his Herculean frame. PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — Emergency teams worked to provide relief in Haiti on Sunday after a magnitude 5.9 earthquake killed 12 people and left 188 injured. The country's civil protection agency said that at least seven people died in the coastal city of Port-de-Paix and three people died in the nearby community of Gros-Morne in the province of Artibonite. LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (AP) — A Little Rock woman has been sentenced to eight years in prison for the 2017 stabbing death of her husband. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports 44-year-old Christie Marie Buckner pleaded guilty Thursday to manslaughter in the slaying of her 55-year-old husband. Buckner told authorities she stabbed him after he approached her with a knife. Williams is suspected of assaulting a hired driver during an argument over taking him and his dog from the airport to a performance in the city. AUBURN, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say sheriff's deputies shot and killed an armed man who threatened to shoot residents of a Northern California rehab facility. The Placer County Sheriff's Office says the suspect told dispatchers he was high on marijuana and speed when he called 911 and made the threats early Sunday. Officials say the man was holding a gun when deputies encountered him outside the inpatient rehab in Auburn. GERMANTOWN, Md. (AP) — Police in Maryland say they've arrested two teens and recovered a handgun after a student was threatened at a community college. The Washington Post reported Sunday that the alleged threat was made on the Germantown campus of Montgomery College, which is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Washington.
