Armed suspect shot, killed by Northern California deputies
AUBURN, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say sheriff's deputies shot and killed an armed man who threatened to shoot residents of a Northern California rehab facility.
The Placer County Sheriff's Office says the suspect told dispatchers he was high on marijuana and speed when he called 911 and made the threats early Sunday.
Officials say the man was holding a gun when deputies encountered him outside the inpatient rehab in Auburn. When the man raised the weapon toward the deputies, they opened fire, according to officials.
He died at the scene. There was no report of injuries to deputies or anyone at the rehab northeast of Sacramento.
It wasn't immediately clear if the man was a resident of the facility.
