Plenty of blame to go around for Cal’s 24-17 loss at Arizona
TUSCON, Ariz. - There was plenty of blame to throw around after Cal’s 24-17 loss to Arizona late Saturday night, but Bears head coach Justin Wilcox tried to shoulder the majority of it.
“It’s really disappointing and unacceptable, starting with me,” Wilcox said about an hour before his team boarded a flight that arrived in the Bay Area during the wee hours of Sunday morning. “It’s my job to make sure they’re ready to play. We’ve got to give them opportunities in every phase to be at their best.
“We weren’t.”
The Bears fell to 3-2 (0-2 Pac-12) and will probably be favored only twice in their remaining seven games as they chase the three wins necessary to qualify for a bowl game, despite roundly appearing like the better team in Tucson.
