The pair are among about 6,000 women and several hundred minors represented in the 2017 lawsuit who said they were harmed when the Houston Police Department failed to submit rape kits to a crime lab for years. 10 Crazy Cat Ladies in Movies and TV, From ‘The Simpsons’ to ‘The Office’ (Photos)

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

You know the type. Lonely old woman, cluttered household, sheltered from society, with her only friends in the world her numerous cats roaming around her house. It’s the “crazy cat lady.” Weirdly, it’s not a pop culture character trope for men, even though they’re often as obsessed with cats too! Just look at the James Bond villain Blofeld, Don Corleone or Robert De Niro in “Meet the Parents.” Still, the crazy cat lady stereotype persists, often with hilarious results. And because June is the National Adopt-a-Cat Month... Читать дальше...

More than 30 years later, young women are still fighting for their corner of extreme sports, and “Skate Kitchen” celebrates female skateboarders who demand their right to grind and pop and kickflip whether the boys like it or not. The narrative debut of documentarian Crystal Moselle (“The Wolfpack”),... Читать дальше...

‘BlacKkKlansman’ Film Review: Spike Lee Looks Back – and Forward – in Anger

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

“BlacKkKlansman,” which premiered in May at the Cannes Film Festival, is quintessential Spike Lee, impassioned and messy and vital as anything he’s done in decades. It’s also far more accomplished a piece of filmmaking than many of Lee’s recent narrative films. Let’s face it, the director of “She’s Gotta Have It,” “Do the Right Thing” and “Malcolm X” has long been an iconic director, educator and activist, but films like “Red Hook Summer,” “Miracle at St. Anna,” “Oldboy” and even the spirited but... ARKADELPHIA, Ark.
