Housing developer ends water dispute
SHELBURNE, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont developer has resolved a dispute over water rights that postponed a 91-unit residential project at a Shelburne golf club for two years.
The Burlington Free Press reports Chris Snyder will pay $81,000 to help Shelburne pay for water storage rights at a tank in South Burlington after a state review found the town had free access for decades.
Snyder says the deal will allow him to get final town approval for his development at the Kwiniaska Golf Club.
Snyder's plans call for fairways on the western side of the course to be turned into townhouses, single-level homes and single-family lots. About 24 acres of the 53.5-acre area would remain as open space.
