MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Republicans moved a revamped bill that would allow builders to fill marshes and swamps without a permit out of committee Thursday, clearing the way for a full Senate floor vote. The Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Energy voted 3-2 to approve the bill. All three Republicans on the panel voted for the measure. Veteran studio executive and producer Jill Messick, the ex-manager of Rose McGowan who found herself caught in the fight between McGowan and Harvey Weinstein, has committed suicide. She was 50. Messick’s family said in a statement she was “broken” by seeing her name in the news surrounding McGowan’s accusation that Weinstein raped her. TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Authorities investigating a large-scale fake ID operation in Ohio say they've seized $4.7 million in bitcoins and several computers and printers. Court documents say they also found gold and silver bars and coins inside the Toledo home of Mark Simon. Simon was charged Thursday in U.S. District Court with making and transferring false identification documents. A message left with Simon's court-appointed attorney hasn't been returned. BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho House panel has introduced legislation that would add increased fines for trespassing on private property. The Idaho Statesman reports that House Agricultural Affairs Chairwoman Judy Boyle on Thursday described the state's trespass laws as a "patchwork" and in need of an update. If approved, Boyle's bill would set trespassing penalties anywhere from $50 to $500, with higher fees for people who intentionally trespass. (AP) — A GOP candidate for North Dakota's U.S. Senate seat has acknowledged deleting more than 100 social media posts after entering the race, including one that called anti-Israel protesters "a bunch of Arabs." ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A University of New Mexico regent is recommending erasing the athletics department's $4.7 million debt to the university. The Board of Regents President Rob Doughty's suggestion comes as the university is formulating a plan for how the department will pay down its debt. ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A Santa Fe man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison in New Mexico for assaulting a federal law enforcement officer. Prosecutors say 26-year-old Jordan Roybal was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Albuquerque. Roybal was arrested last March on a criminal complaint charging him with assaulting a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer in November 2016 in Santa Fe County. BUTTE, Mont. (AP) — A woman who had supervisory responsibilities at the Butte Pre-release Center has been given a deferred sentence for having sex with a male inmate in late 2016. The Montana Standard reports 30-year-old Brittany Popovich went to authorities after the inmate threatened to divulge their relationship if she didn't find a way to cover up the fact that a random urinalysis showed he had used methamphetamine. (AP) — Wildlife officials are asking California residents to report any sightings of nutria — an invasive rodent that eats so much aquatic vegetation that it threatens wetlands and marshes. NEW YORK (AP) — New York City authorities have seized nearly nine pounds (5 kilograms) of fentanyl with a street value of $10 million hidden inside fish. The synthetic opioid was recovered last week from a vehicle in the Bronx. The brick-shaped packages were wrapped in fish and placed inside Styrofoam coolers. Police said Thursday that Johnny De Los Santos-Martinez, of the Bronx, was arrested on drug possession charges in connection with the fentanyl seizure.
