Emma Watson Replaces Alicia Vikander In James Ponsoldt's 'The Circle' With Tom Hanks
Even Alicia Vikander, who seems have a movie coming out every other week this year, can't star in everything. The actress recently joined "Bourne 5," but that has meant dropping a couple of movies on her slate: the video game adaptation "Assassin's Creed" and the James Ponsoldt adaptation of Dave Eggers' novel, "The Circle." But where one door closes, another opens.
Emma Watson has stepped up to replace Vikander in the film. Ponsoldt has penned the screenplay for the thriller that follows a young woman who is hired for a big job in an Internet monopoly called the Circle, which links users’ personal emails, social media, banking, and purchasing with their universal operating system, resulting in one online identity and a new age of civility and transparency.
Filming will kick off in September. Check out the full press release below.
