Bosnia will appeal a UN court ruling that cleared Serbia of blame for genocide, the Muslim Bosniak member of the country's presidency said today, despite a warning by his Serb and Croat colleagues that it would spark a political crisis. The 2007 judgment by the International Court of Justice exonerated Serbia of direct responsibility for killings, rapes and "ethnic cleansing" in Bosnia during the violent breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990s, though it said Serbia had failed in its responsibility to prevent genocide. Two ugly, boring and oppressive political parties

Times of Malta

Joseph Muscat’s Labour government and Simon Busuttil’s adopted strategy to oppose him, might shed some light on the anxiety that many voters express when faced with a choice between voting for either large parties or taking the risk and voting for a third party. Here I am identifying five “narratives” by which one could begin to explain this quandary. These are: parochial governance, corrupt practices, lazy intellects, stubborn managerialism, and a sense of belonging. I will deal with each of them briefly. Читать дальше...
