Pop superstar Beyonce said today that she and her husband, rap star and entrepreneur Jay Z, were expecting twins, sending social media into a meltdown. Millionaire dreams are carried over to next week

If you hoped to become a millionaire today, forget it. No one guessed the five numbers of the Super Five lottery, where the jackpot was €1.2 million. The numbers were 38 13 26 34 16. UK MPs back motion to trigger EU exit clause

Brexit moved a step closer after British MPs this evening voted for the first time in favour of legislation to pave the way for Prime Minister Theresa May to trigger the formal process of leaving the EU. The European Union (Notification Of Withdrawal) Bill, which will allow the Prime Minister to invoke Article 50 of the EU treaties was backed by 498 MPs to 114, a majority of 384, at second reading in the House of Commons, its first stage. Ornis Committee recommends three-week hunting season

The Ornis Committee has recommended a three-week spring hunting season for Quail. It is recommending to the government that the season should stretch from March 25 to April 14. That would be slightly longer than last year's season, which was between April 17 to 30. A final decision on the season will be taken by the government.  Hunters will be restricted to a bag limit of five birds per day and not more than 10 birds in the whole season. Jimmy Magro, former Labour general secretary, implicated in corruption

The Permanent Commission Against Corruption has found a case of attempted corruption by Jimmy Magro, former executive secretary of the Local Councils Association, in the procurement of waste collection equipment, Justice Minister Owen Bonnici told parliament today. Mr Magro served as general secretary of the Labour Party for 12 years until 2003. A 36-year-old Tunisian asylum-seeker arrested today on suspicion of planning an Islamist attack in Germany is also wanted in his homeland over a deadly 2015 assault on a Tunis museum favoured by Western tourists, German officials said. The Tunisian is suspected of recruiting for Islamic State in Germany since August 2015 and building up a network of supporters with the aim of carrying out a terrorist attack, the Frankfurt prosecutor's office said in a statement. Allied Newspapers Limited said it deplored attempts made by the Office of the Prime Minister's chief of staff to politicise a private agreement reached with the company's former managing director. Two swans shot dead...near Windsor Castle

Two swans have died after 12 were shot near to Windsor Castle in the UK. The protected birds were hit with an air weapon and slingshot during two incidents last week in Barry Avenue in Windsor, Berkshire, Thames Valley Police said. Four of the swans were found by police officers on January 24th, and a further eight were injured on Friday, the force added. Two of the swans have since died and several are in a critical condition. Eastern Libya forces fly wounded to Russia in growing cooperation

Transport Malta has denied reports, originating in Libya, that Afriqiyah Airlines will fly services to Malta. It said all Libyan carriers are banned from entering the EU on any commercial flights, scheduled or chartered. Officials told the Libya Herald last week that the airline was planning twice-weekly flights to Malta which were being described as 'regular charters' to go around the EU ban. Milan's Bonaventura out for four months after surgery

AC Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura will be out of action for four months following thigh surgery, the Serie A club said on their official website (www.acmilan.com). Kestrel uses motorway CCTV as vanity mirror

Footage has been released showing a kestrel using a motorway CCTV mast as a perch. The young bird of prey is seen checking out her reflection in the camera, being mobbed by a magpie and a raven, searching for prey and struggling against high winds. The MSE Share Index erased some of yesterday’s decline as it rebounded by 0.10% to 4,720.566 points. Six-storey building collapses in India, killing 5 and trapping 50 more

At least five workers have died and up to 50 others are trapped after a six-storey building under construction in northern India collapsed, a government official has said. District administrator Kaushal Raj Sharma said the army has been asked to help clear the rubble and search for the missing workers. The building came crashing down in Kanpur, a city in Uttar Pradesh state. The building belongs to Mehtab Alab, a politician from the regional Samajwadi Party which governs the state. Engineers dismantled aircraft's generators because their company was owed money

An aircraft maintenance company official was conditionally discharged by a magistrate's court today after he was convicted of having unlawfully dismantled an aircraft's generators to force payment of funds owed to his company.  Alexander Ferdinand Vit, a German, allegedly took the generators worth €7272.58 from a Libyan Air Ambulance belonging to the Health Ministry in Tripoli. UK police investigating 255 sexual abuse claims involving 77 clubs

Officers investigating non-recent sexual abuse at football clubs in London have said they are looking into 255 allegations involving 77 clubs or teams, including the capital’s five Premier League clubs, the Metropolitan Police said. Joseph Gerada, a lawyer who accompanied Economy Minister Chris Cardona on an official visit to Germany, is to sue blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia after she reported that he had accompanied the minister to a brothel. Barts medical school delayed by a year

The opening of a new medical school in Gozo by Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry has been delayed by a year due to the lack of progress on the building of a new campus. The medical school is now expected to start receiving its first 60 students this September.   When the agreement to build the new medical school was signed in 2015, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat announced that it would be up and running by September 2016.
