WALLKILL, N.Y. (AP) — The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has been cut down in upstate New York and is being readied for transport to Manhattan where it will be erected this weekend. Rockefeller Center's publicist says the 72-foot-tall (22-meter) Norway spruce was cut down Thursday morning at the home of Shirley Figueroa and Lissette Gutierrez in Wallkill. LONGVIEW, Texas (AP) — A psychologist has determined a suspect in a 2013 stabbing attack at an East Texas hospital that left a nurse and a visitor dead is competent to stand trial. The Longview News-Journal reports Kyron Rayshawn Templeton received psychiatric treatment and underwent another mental evaluation last month. CHICAGO (AP) — Prosecutors have called a witness with alleged drug cartel ties to testify at the sentencing in Chicago of a former Mexican intelligence-unit commander who worked closely with U.S. agents while divulging secrets to the cartel. DENVER (AP) — An FBI agent who accidentally shot a man in the leg while dancing at a Denver nightspot has pleaded not guilty but a plea deal is still possible in the case. Chase Bishop entered his plea to a second-degree assault charge Thursday, four months after it was disclosed that lawyers were trying to reach a plea deal. CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire's House is getting a bit younger following Tuesday's elections. New Hampshire Public Radio reports that in the last legislative session, there were 23 state representatives under the age of 35. Now, there will be at least 42 representatives under age 40. One of them is 19-year-old Cassie Levesque, of Barrington, a Democrat who decided to run after working on a Girl Scouts project to raise New Hampshire's child marriage age. Gov. ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A 23-year-old Anchorage man has been convicted of robbing a city credit union. Eyob Imlach was convicted Wednesday after a non-jury trial before U.S. District Judge Sharon Gleason. He will be sentenced Feb. 4 and he faces up to 20 years in prison. Federal prosecutors say Imlach on Sept. 6 entered a branch of Alaska USA on west 36th Avenue. He wore a parka with the hood pulled over his head and carried a backpack. HOUSTON (AP) — Texas' Attorney General is pushing to keep an inmate on death row despite prosecutors and defense lawyers agreeing that the man is intellectually disabled and shouldn't be executed. SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A Sioux Falls man accused of domestic assault is facing additional charges of witness tampering. Authorities say 34-year-old Nicholas Beesley tried to get the victim, a recovering addict, to relapse so she couldn't testify against him in court because she would be in jail or in treatment. An Arkansas man was arrested Thursday after police accused him sending death threats to CNN anchor Don Lemon. According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s office, Benjamin Craig Matthews made 40 calls to CNN from a period between Oct. 30 and Nov. 2 “The content of these calls ranged from general harassment, threat of bodily injury, and calls threatening the life of a CNN journalist. SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — A man whom federal authorities believe is in the U.S. illegally has been charged in the fatal shooting of two former roommates and a woman in southwest Missouri. A second man has been charged as an accomplice. Luis Perez was charged Tuesday with three counts of first-degree murder in the killings of 38-year-old Steven Marler, 23-year-old Aaron Hampton and 21-year-old Sabrina Starr in Springfield, Missouri. PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Prosecutors in Massachusetts say a Pittsfield man shot last weekend has died, and police are now investigating the death as a homicide. NEW YORK (AP) — The prosecutor appointed to investigate allegations that former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman physically abused women says she has closed the case without bringing criminal charges. Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced her decision Thursday. She said in a brief statement that investigators did an "exhaustive review" and she personally interviewed each woman who had accused Schneiderman of assault.
