CBS announced its first quarterly-earnings since the forced resignation of former CEO Leslie Moonves on Thursday. SEATTLE (AP) — The Spokane City Council is considering a proposal to stop the police department from selling forfeited firearms, following an Associated Press investigation that found that some guns sold by Washington state law enforcement agencies ended up in new crimes. Councilwoman Candace Mumm said Thursday that the AP investigation coupled with a review of the proceeds from the gun sales inspired the council to want to end the practice. CHICAGO (AP) — A former California college student has pleaded guilty to charges of aiding a terrorist organization after earlier arguing he was entitled to immunity because he hooked up with the kind of Syrian rebels the U.S. has backed. Twenty-five-year-old Aws Mohammed Younis Al-Jayab admitted in a plea agreement Wednesday to flying from Chicago to Turkey in 2013, then traveling to Syria. LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — The Maine Affordable Housing Coalition says more children are being deemed to suffer from lead poisoning under a new standard. State childhood lead poisoning rates from the past year, compiled by the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, identified 322 children.
