VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A Washington state man is charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend's 5-year-old daughter. Ryan Mason Burge is scheduled to appear in court Monday. It's not clear if he has an attorney. Vancouver police were called to an apartment complex Friday where the girl was unconscious. Police say Burge told them the girl hurt herself during a tantrum. The school's Agricultural Experiment Station and Brewing Science Laboratory have partnered on the creation, which they say will be available locally soon. NEW YORK (AP) — New York City's public school teachers have voted to ratify a new union contract. The United Federation of Teachers announced Sunday that the contract got the support of 87 percent of the roughly 90,000 member who voted. The union and the city had reached a tentative agreement last month. It includes raises of 2 percent in 2019, 2.5 percent in 2020 and 3 percent in 2021. The contract covers 129,000 workers. They include 79,000 teachers plus guidance counselors, social workers, paraprofessionals and school psychologists.

SEATTLE (AP) — Court documents show that a woman who was stabbed to death at Seattle Center previously obtained a temporary protection order against the man suspected of killing her. According to the documents, Gabrielle Garcia received the protection order last month against David Lee Morris, who is the father of her 5-year-old son. A judge determined there's probable cause to hold Morris on first-degree murder. He's scheduled to appear in court Monday. It's not clear if he has an attorney.
