ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Some Maryland deer hunters now can claim a credit against their state income taxes for donating their processed venison to the hungry. A new law allows hunters to receive a $50 tax credit for each antlerless deer they harvest and pay to have butchered. The maximum credit hunters may claim in one tax year is $200, for up to four antlerless deer. OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A new study by a criminal justice research group shows the number of felonies filed by Oklahoma prosecutors dropped nearly 30 percent since voters decided to ease sentences for some drug and property crimes. The study was released Wednesday by Open Justice Oklahoma, a project of the Tulsa-based, liberal think-tank Oklahoma Policy Institute funded largely by the George Kaiser Family Foundation. It examined felony filings since a voter-approved law that took effect in July 2017 made many drug and property crimes misdemeanors.

PARADISE, Calif. (AP) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency says as many as 2,000 trailers could be used to help house survivors of a Northern California wildfire that killed at least 88 people and destroyed 13,000 homes. Toney Raines, head of FEMA's housing task force, says survivors could begin living in the trailers sometime this week. He says the 2,000 figure is an estimate and could come down. ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Police in Greece say they have arrested 63 people accused of running a major gold smuggling operation, using a network of pawn shops that rapidly expanded during the country's severe financial crisis. The arrests were announced Wednesday and police seized cash, gold bars, jewels and other valuable items worth an estimated 2 million euros ($2.3 million). Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane on Wednesday lost an eleventh-hour request to be given more time before she must report to jail and begin serving a 10- to 23-month perjury and obstruction sentence. DENVER (AP) — Officials say no ransom was paid and no information was lost during a cyber extortion attack on the Colorado Department of Transportation's computer network last spring. Brandi Simmons is a spokeswoman with the Colorado Governor's Office of Information Technology. She said Wednesday that that agency, the FBI and others contained and eradicated the so-called "ransomware" attack that essentially froze hundreds of CDOT computers. (AP) — Delaware's Supreme Court has been asked to decide whether a judge erred in ruling that a University of Delaware sorority was not responsible for the death of a student who was hit by a car after getting drunk.
