ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — A former student expelled from Virginia Tech after being arrested on a gun charge is suing the school and police officials in federal court. Yunsong Zhao filed a complaint Thursday saying police violated his rights in falsely arresting him, and school officials violated his due process rights in dismissing him. Police claim they saw Zhao at a local range shooting a semi-automatic rifle with a 30-round magazine. Virginia prohibits non-citizens from having guns with magazines holding more than 20 rounds. Amazon chief executive Jeffrey P. Bezos was dragged by The Washington Post Saturday for the announced 20 percent hike for its annual Prime membership. Bezos, by the way, also owns The Washington Post. The service, which gives customers a lot of perks, from “free” two-day shipping to access to Amazon’s video catalog, is increasing its price from $99 to $119 a year, CFO Brian Olsavsky said on the company’s earnings call on Thursday. BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) — An elderly man who was sent to a hospital on Cape Cod for injuries sustained in a house fire has died. WBZ-TV reports the unidentified man died Saturday afternoon at Cape Cod Hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation during a fire at his home. Fire crews responded to a fire in a 19th century wooden Barnstable home Friday night and transported the man from the scene. PERRY, Ga. (AP) — A man accused of shooting a Centerville, Georgia police officer is now in custody. According to Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge J.T. Ricketson, 45-year-old Perry Baggett, of Centerville, was arrested early Saturday. Baggett is accused of shooting Cpl. Jeremy Mashuga in the abdomen as he responded to a domestic dispute Friday at a home just south of Macon in Houston County. Lt. MILWAUKEE (AP) — Authorities have identified the pilot and two crew members who died when a medical helicopter crashed in northern Wisconsin. USA Today Network-Wisconsin reports that the crash claimed the lives of the 34-year-old pilot, Rico Caruso, of Hazelhurst; 43-year-old Gregory Rosenthal, of Mosinee; and 30-year-old Klint Mitchell, of Watersmeet, Michigan. CAIRO (AP) — An Egyptian court has sentenced 13 policemen to between three and five years in prison for taking part in a 2015 strike demanding higher pay and better working conditions. Eleven were sentenced to three years in prison and two were sentenced to five on charges of illegal assembly, inciting against the Interior Ministry, which is in charge of law enforcement, and belonging to an outlawed group. SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A Sioux Falls man who was convicted of dealing methamphetamine has been sentenced to 25 years in prison. Thirty-one-year-old Jaunte Berry pleaded guilty in October to possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of meth. Authorities say Berry mailed several pounds of meth and marijuana from Sacramento, California, to Sioux Falls. A search of his Sioux Falls residence discovered about 68 grams of meth, more than a pound of marijuana and a firearm. Berry was also ordered to serve four years of supervised release.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities a man found dead in a fire at an apartment complex in South Carolina was stabbed. The Greenville County Coroner's Office said 61-year-old Kenneth Capps was found unconscious inside his burning apartment in Greenville around 6:45 p.m. Friday and couldn't be revived. Authorities say the fire appeared to be contained to one apartment in a building and was under control in less than 10 minutes. Greenville County deputies are investigating the death and fire. No one else in the apartment complex was injured.

BOSTON (AP) — Boston's Vietnamese community is reflecting on the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War. The nonprofit Vietnamese American Initiative for Development, or VietAID, is hosting a Saturday evening talk by Bao Nguyen, the former mayor of Garden Grove, California. The Democrat was the Los Angeles-area city's first Vietnamese American mayor from 2014 to 2016. BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A man has been charged in connection to a Westport highway crash that killed a child. Thirty-year-old Jesse Zorski of Freeport, Maine turned himself in to the state police in Bridgeport Friday on an active arrest warrant. Zorski was driving a car that rear-ended another car in April 2017. A 9-year-old boy in the front car suffered a serious head injury and later died.
