NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Police are investigating a possible hate crime in Delaware after a man's leg was broken and derogatory comments were made about his sexual orientation. The News Journal reported Tuesday that the incident occurred at an off-campus party near the University of Delaware on Friday night. Newark Police spokesman Gerald Bryda said several people assaulted a 23-year-old man and made derogatory comments. Bryda said hate crime charges are possible depending on what comments were made. Magnolia Pictures has picked up the worldwide rights to Jason Mitchell’s “Tyrel,” the company announced Tuesday. The film stars Michael Cera, Chris Abbott, Ann Dowd and Caleb Landry Jones. A drama about race relations, it premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival in January. Magnolia Pictures is aiming for a 2018 theatrical release. Sebastián Silva wrote and directed the film about Tyler, the sole black man who goes on a weekend getaway trip with his drunk friends.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Southwest Airlines plane has made an emergency landing at Philadelphia's airport with what appears to be a damaged engine. Passengers were seen walking off the plane on the tarmac at the airport. Passengers on board posted on social media that the plane was en route from New York City to Dallas when something happened. Messages seeking comment from the Federal Aviation Administration weren't immediately returned. Firefighters are on the scene but a spokeswoman couldn't provide any details.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Authorities say have arrested a 14-year-old boy for allegedly shooting his 13-year-old brother in the chest. Officer Charley Davidson says the younger brother was hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries after being shot around 12:15 p.m. Monday.
