The Brexit-proof stocks that investors are craving

Times of Malta

Health, safety and even some traditional 'sin stocks' have already shown signs of weathering Brexit-related storms in European equity markets over the past week. The flight to safety in the aftermath of last week's Brexit vote is sending investors scurrying back into healthcare and consumer-related stocks that have shielded them from nearly every big market dislocation of the past five years. On Wednesday, European healthcare became the first major regional sector to recover all its post-Brexit losses, helped largely by the big UK bellwethers. Читать дальше...

Iceland lead the long-throw revival

Times of Malta

In an era when possession is king, launching a long throw into the penalty area has re-emerged as an unlikely but successful way of catching out defenders more used to teams trying to emulate Spain's high-tempo "tiki taka" passing game. It is one of the weapons in the artillery of Iceland, creating two goals in their fairytale run to the quarter-finals and leaving opposition managers struggling to nullify its effects despite knowing what is coming. Spain, on the other hand, who have dominated football... Читать дальше...

Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis played down the incident, saying "these artists have their own style" while saying everyone had to respect local laws. Times of Malta

Three local banks have distanced themselves from law firm Mossack Fonseca after revelations from the Panama Papers leak. E-mails and documents from the Panama Papers show that Mossack Fonseca liked doing business with Sparkasse Bank, Mediterranean Bank and Bank of Valletta, which were recommended to clients wanting to open accounts in Malta. Belarusians get naked at work, by presidential order

Times of Malta

Belarusian president Aleksander Lukashenko encouraged citizens to “get undressed and work until you sweat”, and the people obeyed. “Innovations, IT-technologies, privatisation – it is all clear. We’ve conquered all of them. But everything is very simple, one should get undressed and work,” Lukashenko said in a speech. The odd command was most likely a slip of the tongue. What he was supposed to say was to encourage Belarusians to “develop themselves,” but the phrase sounds very similar to “get undressed” in Russian... Читать дальше...
