Wales, England qualify - Wales top Group B after beating Russia

Wales beat Russia 3-0 to top their Euro 2016 group - while England are also through to the last 16. Chris Coleman's men outplayed the Russians in Toulouse, while Roy Hodgson's men could only manage a 0-0 draw against Slovakia in Saint-Etienne. Welshman killed in boat accident 'loved' long Malta holidays

An elderly Welshman who died when he was hit by a boat off Hondoq ir-Rummien on Saturday loved coming to Malta and was a keen swimmer, Welsh media has reported. Allan Stanley, 76, from Gwynedd died on Saturday when he was hit by boat’s propeller. He ran the Period Pine furniture shop and was described by his son Russell as a “hard worker” who had enjoyed holidays in Malta. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is parting ways with his controversial campaign manager in a split reported first by the New York Times. Lewandowski has been with the Trump campaign since the beginning of his White House bid. Valletta market move set to take place

The relocation of the Valletta open market from Merchants' Street to Ordnance Street is set to take place in the coming weeks, Economy Minister Chris Cardona said today. Speaking during the first of a series of public consultations called Gvern li jisma,  Dr Cardona said around half of the stalls which are currently set up along Merchants street would be moving to Ordinance Street;. Croatia gets suspended ticket ban, fine for crowd trouble

Croatia's soccer federation has been handed a suspended ban from selling tickets to hooligans and given a 100,000 euros  fine after their team's supporters caused crowd trouble at Euro 2016, UEFA said. The Croatian federation (HNS) was charged with "crowd disturbances, use of fireworks, throwing of missiles and racist behaviour", European soccer's ruling body said in a statement. Britain's pro-EU camp regains momentum, lifting shares and sterling

The campaign to keep Britain in the European Union appeared to regain the upper hand today, putting the pound on track for its biggest one-day gain in more than seven years and buoying the UK stock market. Campaigning for the June 23 referendum resumed yesterday after a three-day suspension following the killing of lawmaker Jo Cox, and three opinion polls at the weekend showed the "Remain" camp gaining momentum. Parliament pays tribute to murdered British MP

The Maltese Parliament this evening paid tribute to British Labour MP Jo Cox who was murdered outside her constituency office last week. Mario de Marco, speaking for the opposition, said Ms Cox had dedicated her life to the service of the people of Britain. She had followed the politics of persuasion and been killed by a man who used the politics of terror.  Dr de Marco warned against the spread of hate in Malta, especially at those seen as different for racial or political reasons. Malta posts highest rise in bus usage across EU

Malta had the highest rise in public transport patronage levels across the EU, posting an overall increase of 39.7 per cent between 2010 and 2014, an international study has found. The report, due to be released today, was compiled by a Brussels-based International Association of Public Transport. According to the study, the number of journeys (defined as ‘board a public transport vehicle’) in Malta rose from 31.3 million in 2010 to 43.7 million in 2014. Man arrested in Britain after fight over EU referendum

British police have arrested a man on suspicion of assaulting a pensioner in a row over this week's referendum on whether Britain should remain in the European Union. Police said the incident had occurred outside a department store in Carlisle, northern England, on Sunday morning. "A 78-year-old man was struck in the face causing minor injuries by a 52-year-old man following an altercation about the EU referendum," Cumbria Police said in a statement. A man who was charged with attempted murder following a 2013 brawl at the Labour Party's Rabat club has been acquitted because it was not proven that the punches, which were thrown in self-defence, were the cause of the victim's injuries amidst the mayhem. Canada legalises euthanasia

Canada’s parliament has enacted a law allowing medically-assisted death for the terminally ill. Critics wanted the new law to only cover people with degenerative diseases but the request was denied. MSE Share Index climbs to a near 3-week high

The MSE Share Index opened the week on a positive note as it edged up by 0.19 per cent to its highest level this month of 4,468.534 points. Activity was spread across ten equities with three share prices registering gains, another three closing lower while four shares remained unchanged. Iran shuts down newspaper critical of Revolutionary Guards

Iranian authorities today shut down the Ghanoon newspaper, which has criticized the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), the newspaper said in a statement on its website. The move came days after President Hassan Rouhani called for greater freedom of expression in the media. Ghanoon said it been shut by the judiciary after complaints made by the IRGC's Department of Intelligence. Charity cyclists raise €100,000 for cancer research
