ESTES PARK, Colo. (AP) — Visitor centers at Rocky Mountain National Park were locked Saturday and roads were closed or unplowed because of the federal government shutdown. The park's gates were open, but staffing was cut back and roads were not being cleared of new snow. LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan health officials say a child from Osceola County is the first in the state to die from the flu this season. No other details about the case were disclosed Friday by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) — A judge has sentenced a Maui man to life in prison after he fatally slit his estranged wife's throat in a supermarket and injured two men who tried to help her. ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Anchorage teachers have new three-year labor contracts following months of talks. Alaska Public Media reports the agreement between the teachers union and the Anchorage School District was officially adopted by the school board by a 4-2 vote Monday. Board member Dave Donley, among the dissenting votes, said during a board discussion that the labor agreement would create funding problems. The Daily Progress reports that the Fluvanna County sheriff's office was notified of the student's allegedly threatening post on social media, which involved a profanity and a picture of the local high school. JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a New Jersey police officer shot and critically wounded a man armed with a weapon in the home of his parents. The Hudson County prosecutor's office says Jersey City officers were dispatched to the home on a report of "a violent emotionally disturbed male." (AP) — A New Hampshire court is ordering an inn manager accused of shoving a couple she thought were Muslim after getting into a dispute over a refund not to threaten anyone based on their religion. Jocelyn Ontiveros was booked into the Dona Ana County jail Friday night on suspicion of multiple charges, including arson with intent to commit a violent felony and child abuse resulting in death.
