MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A man convicted of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a police officer in Tennessee has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Shelby County judge Lee Coffee read the sentence for 41-year-old Tremaine Wilbourn on Tuesday after a jury recommended the punishment. Prosecutors had sought the death penalty.
