ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — University of Georgia police say a loaded gun was recently found at a campus bus stop. The Athens Banner-Herald cites a campus police report that says a graduate student leaving his lab early Sunday morning found the gun lying in plain sight in a planter. Police say that the weapon's magazine held six 9mm hollow-point rounds, though no bullet was in its chamber. (AP) — A shooting in a Birmingham high school that left one student dead and another injured has reignited debate among Alabama lawmakers to come to a school safety solution before the end of the session. LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan legislators are moving to bar juvenile sexual offenders from attending the same school district as their victims. The state House voted 106-1 Thursday to require schools to remove students who commit criminal sexual conduct against another pupil in the same school district. The bipartisan bill is being touted as a victory for safeguarding the protection and healing of school-aged victims of sexual assault. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Police took a "person of interest" into custody Thursday after an apparently accidental shooting killed a 17-year-old girl at an Alabama high school classroom a day earlier. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A man elected to serve as a district Attorney in Alabama has been sentenced to six months in jail for perjury. Charles Todd Henderson never took office as the Jefferson County District Attorney after being elected in 2016. He was indicted on the perjury charge and suspended before he could take office. VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota restaurant worker is accused of urinating in a co-worker's water bottle after the woman rejected his advances. Prosecutors charged 47-year-old Conrrado Cruz Perez of Minneapolis with adulterating a substance with bodily fluids. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports deputies were called to the restaurant in Vadnais Heights in October after an employee reported a baker was harassing her. According to the complaint, the woman noticed several times that the water bottle she keeps at work tasted like urine.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — A drunken man's attempted backflip in a Georgia bar ended badly. The Athens Banner-Herald cites an Athens-Clarke County police report that says a 22-year-old woman was hit in the head when he flipped off her booth landed on her table.
