BURLEY, Idaho (AP) — Eastern Idaho authorities say about half a dozen railroad cars carrying corn derailed in Burley on Thursday. Cassia County Undersheriff George Warrell tells The Times-News that there are no injuries in the Eastern Idaho Railroad derailment that occurred at about 10 a.m. where the rail line crosses U.S. Route 30. AVON, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut school board has approved a settlement of a lawsuit that accused four educators of indoctrinating three sisters into a religious cult that celebrates death. Avon School Superintendent Bridget Carnemolla said Thursday that ending the case was a business decision and the schools' insurer will pay the $62,500 settlement. She said she could not comment further. The school board approved the deal Tuesday. The sisters' parents sued the school district, three teachers and a guidance counselor in federal court in 2014. BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho is continuing its crusade against abortion with Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter signing legislation into law that will increase reporting requirements for abortion providers. Some of the personal information required in the measure is already collected by the state's health and welfare agency. However, starting July 1, providers will be required by law to report details such as woman's age, race, how many children she has, if any of their children have died and how many abortions they've had in the past. DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Magazine and broadcasting company Meredith plans to remodel its corporate headquarters in Des Moines to accommodate 41 jobs it's transferring from New York as it merges the Time Incorporated staff into its own. DENVER (AP) — Denver police say officers who shot and killed a man after a high-speed chase believed an escaped inmate was a passenger in the car. Denver Police Commander Barb Carver said 23-year-old Steven Nguyen was killed and 23-year-old Rafael Landeros was shot but survived. She said they were associates of Mauricio Venzor-Gonzalez, who escaped from sheriff deputies on Monday during a visit to a Denver hospital. SACRAMENTO — Community members and activists gathered at Sacramento City Hall on Thursday to protest the fatal shooting of an unarmed black man by police. Black Lives Matter Sacramento organized the rally in honor of Stephon Clark, a 22-year-old who was shot Sunday night in the backyard of his grandparents’ home, where he was staying. BRISBANE, Calif. (AP) _ CareDx Inc. (CDNA) on Thursday reported a loss of $31.7 million in its fourth quarter. On a per-share basis, the Brisbane, California-based company said it had a loss of $1.13. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs and stock option expense, came to 9 cents per share. The molecular diagnostics company posted revenue of $12.5 million in the period. For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $55.5 million, or $2.38 per share. PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Maine's supreme court has rejected the appeal of a man convicted of killing his girlfriend and her two children in Garland. Keith Coleman appealed his convictions for murder and gross sexual assault and the imposition of three life sentences by a judge. PARKLAND, Fla. (AP) — An attorney for the brother of Florida school shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz said in court papers Thursday that a $500,000 bond for trespassing at the school is excessive and that the brother should be released from jail. Lawyer Joseph Kimok said in the documents that 18-year-old Zachary Cruz already paid the standard $25 bond for a misdemeanor and should not be kept in custody.
