Loaded gun found at University of Georgia campus bus stop
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — University of Georgia police say a loaded gun was recently found at a campus bus stop.
The Athens Banner-Herald cites a campus police report that says a graduate student leaving his lab early Sunday morning found the gun lying in plain sight in a planter. Police say that the weapon's magazine held six 9mm hollow-point rounds, though no bullet was in its chamber.
Police are trying to identify the owner, and determine if that person had a permit to carry a weapon in a school safety zone, as well as how it came to be in a place in which it was "recklessly endangering the safety of anyone who would come across it."
