Steve Kerr on Patrick McCaw situation: ‘The whole thing has been surprising’
PORTLAND, Ore. — Count Warriors head coach Steve Kerr among those who have been puzzled by restricted free agent Patrick McCaw’s lingering contract stalemate with Golden State.
"The whole thing has been surprising," Kerr said after shoot-around Saturday morning at Moda Center. "We anticipated Pat would be part of our rotation this year. It just didn’t happen, for whatever reason. We’ll see what happens. Obviously, we have a decision to make."
The Warriors have little more than 24 hours to decide whether to match Cleveland’s non-guaranteed two-year, $6 million offer sheet to McCaw. Per a league source, Golden State would probably only match the Cavaliers’ offer sheet to keep McCaw as a potential trade asset.
