Louisiana GOP lining up with Ardoin for secretary of state
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana's Republican elected officials are rallying behind GOP secretary of state candidate Kyle Ardoin in the Dec. 8 runoff.
Many top Republican leaders avoided endorsements in this month's primary because six GOP candidates were on the ballot. With the race whittled to Ardoin and Democrat Gwen Collins-Greenup, GOP officials announced their backing of Ardoin.
Ardoin has been interim secretary of state since his former boss, Tom Schedler, resigned amid sexual harassment allegations.
Endorsing Ardoin on Tuesday were U.S. Sens. Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy, Attorney General Jeff Landry, Treasurer John Schroder, Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain and Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon. Also backing Ardoin are U.
