Warriors recall Jacob Evans III and Marcus Derrickson from Santa Cruz
As they try to weather a rash of injuries, the Warriors have recalled guard Jacob Evans III and two-way-contract player Marcus Derrickson from their G League affiliate in Santa Cruz.
Evans, who has had a tough time cracking Golden State’s rotation, was sent down to Santa Cruz on Tuesday for much-needed playing time. But even against G League competition, he struggled with his shot, shooting a combined 6-for-19 from the field (1-for-5 from three-point range) in wins over the Stockton Kings and the Agua Caliente Clippers.
Evans left Santa Cruz with averages of 6.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steal in 19.0 minutes per game. Odds are that it wasn’t the last stint in the G League this season for Evans, who has averaged just 6.
