Fire erupts near Oakland homeless encampment
A fire broke out near a homeless encampment Friday in Oakland, authorities said.
The Oakland Fire Department responded to the blaze around noon Friday. It appeared to be burning near East 12th Street and 23rd Avenue in the Fruitvale area. Firefighters were actively working the fire at 1 p.m., captain Chris Foley said.
Authorities did not immediately say what was burning or confirm the extent of damage.
