Questioning the ‘system’ of 49ers’ coach Kyle Shanahan
Thursday’s game between the 49ers and Raiders was intended, in part, as a showcase for Jimmy Garoppolo. The Garoppolo bump was the reason the lowly 49ers got placed in so many prime-time games.
Instead, the game will be a showcase for the consequences of the “system.”
C.J. Beathard, who is ranked 28th among NFL quarterbacks, may not be able to play because of a “messed up” thumb and wrist. That means Nick Mullens — an undrafted free agent a year ago — would make his NFL debut.
Yikes. Not that we couldn’t see this coming. Beathard has been taking a pounding since he took over for Garoppolo. It seemed only a matter of time before he was injured.
