Martavis Bryant: New start with Raiders ‘a blessing’
Martavis Bryant said multiple times at a press conference Friday that he sees joining the Raiders as a “clean slate” following a tumultuous few years with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Raiders acquired Bryant, 26, from the Steelers on Thursday in exchange for a third-round draft pick. In doing so, they added a big (6-foot-4, 211), talented receiver to their offense who also drew repeated NFL discipline during his time in Pittsburgh.
Bryant missed the first four games of the 2015 season while suspended for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. A second violation cost him the entire 2016 season - an experience he termed a “reality check” on Friday.
