Giants prospect Andrew Suarez dominates for Sacramento
SACRAMENTO — Andrew Suarez has put himself in position to possibly start for the Giants on Tuesday.
The left-handed pitcher breezed through hitters through seven dominant innings in a Triple-A game on Thursday night, and his next step likely is the big leagues.
The Giants need a sixth starter Tuesday because of Saturday’s doubleheader, and Suarez would be pitching on four days of rest after his latest performance for Triple-A Sacramento. He had stellar control, especially with his low-90s fastball, and was in the zone all night — 63 of his 85 pitches were strikes.
