Police: Man refused drink, crashes SUV into restaurant
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Police in North Carolina have arrested a man after they say he drove his SUV into a restaurant after he was refused alcohol.
Mooresville police say 22-year-old Shaquille Dangelo Steele is charged with driving while impaired and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. At least one person was taken to the hospital as a result of the crash Thursday.
Local news sources cite eyewitnesses who say Steele was refused alcohol because he was already intoxicated. They said he became angry and began knocking over tables before going to the parking lot, getting into his vehicle and crashing it into the restaurant.
Steele is being held in the Iredell County jail on a $200,000 bond.
