Rochester Library partners with debt collections agency
ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — In an effort to collect overdue items and fines, a public library in New Hampshire is partnering with a debt collections agency.
Implementation of the new policy begins next month. The Rochester Public Library will refer accounts that owe more than $75 to the collection agency, Unique Management.
In addition to overdue charges, the offenders will be responsible for paying service fees on behalf of the library to the agency.
Director Brian Sylvester said the change will only impact a small number of library users. Patrons should have ample time to take action before their accounts are turned over to the company.
