Why Nigerian Referees Are Always Snubbed
The chairman Nigeria Wrestling Referee, Yusuf Usman has attributed United World Wrestling snub ahead of the Olympics to the non participation of the wrestling federation at the 2015 Copa Brazil Wrestling Championship and other refresher referee courses.

It will be recalled that in December 2015, 11 wrestlers failed to participate at the Copa Brazil Championship
He said Nigeria referees missed a grading course which would have been a yard stick for them officiating in Brazil.
The 2014 Commonwealth referee highlighted that officials who will be participating at the Rio 2016 Olympics are grade A referees.
The Bauchi born referee explained that Nigeria referee will continue to be sidelined in major competition if they do not get upgraded.
He noted that government alone cannot finance all the sporting federations calling on private organization to ease the government by making it one of their social responsibilities.
