Two goals in the final five minutes eased Hibs' nerves as the champions beat a determined Mosta side 3-0 to maintain their title challenge.
Hibs saw more of the ball but struggled to penetrate Mosta who defended well for long stretches. But, as the Blues chased an equaliser in the final stages, Hibs took advantage with goals from Gilmar and Jorginho to make sure of the three points.
Hibernians dominated the first half but only had one goal to show for their efforts.
It came just before the half-hour as Bjorn Kristensen unleashed a brilliant shot from the distance that hit the underside of the crossbar on its way in.
Before that, Mosta, who had been mostly on the defence, had the best chance as James Brincat exchanged passes with Ekani before dashing into the net but his drive was cleared by Clayton Failla.
The Paolites almost increased their advantage when Gilmar, set up by the overlapping Failla, sent in a dangerous cross that Borg could only push into the goalmouth. Jurgen Degabriele was first to the ball but his effort was cleared.
Just before half-time, Failla's free-kick took a deflection that sent the ball rolling past the far post.
