Belgian authorities allowed one of the Brussels killers to walk free - after being warned by Turkish officials that he was a terrorist. Advice to keep Zika virus off Maltese shores

Precautions that can be taken to keep the Zika virus off Maltese shores were issued by the health authorities this evening in preparation for warmer temperatures which lead to an increase in mosquitoes The Zika virus disease is caused by a virus transmitted by aedes aldopictus mosquitoes. The health authorities referred to an app launched by the World Health Organisation and which can be accessed here. MALTA-0, MONTENEGRO-1  An early goal proved enough for the Montenegro U-21 team to beat Malta in a UEFA U-21 Group qualifier at the Hibs Stadium. A woman sitting bloodied and dazed just moments after the Brussels airport bombings was one of the most haunting images from the attacks. The woman's family in India saw the photo after Tuesday's blasts. They identified her as Nidhi Chaphekar, a 40-year-old Jet Airways flight attendant and mother of two from Mumbai. Pianist's wife pleads not guilty to killing daughters

The estranged wife of celebrated Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to capital murder in the killings of her two children last week in her suburban Fort Worth, Texas home. Air Malta moving Moscow operation to Sheremetyevo Airport

Air Malta said today it is moving its Malta-Moscow operation to Sheremetyevo Airport Terminal E as from June 3. Its timetable will remain unchanged operating a twice weekly service departing Malta every Friday and Saturday and Moscow every Saturday and Sunday. Located northwest of central Moscow, the airport is 35 minutes away from the city centre by Aeroexpress train.

Man refuses to descend from tall Seattle tree

A man is refusing to leave his perch near the top of a 24-metre tree in downtown Seattle despite hours of coaxing. Authorities were alerted to the unidentified man on Tuesday morning, and he was still clinging to its branches more than 20 hours later. "Issue appears to be between the man and the tree," Seattle police tweeted. Police spokesman Patrick Michaud told The Seattle Times: "It is quite a spectacle, honestly." Prince Harry extends Nepal trip to help rebuild earthquake-hit school

A former Manoel Theatre handyman whose job had been terminated in 2014 has filed an application asking the court to rule whether his right to a fair hearing had been breached by the Industrial Tribunal. His request follows a recent decision by the Appeal Court which ruled that the Industrial Tribunal law was unconstitutional as it did not guarantee independence and impartiality. Bid to thank boy who helped police clean up after derby match

Police have appealed for help in tracing a little boy who helped them clear up after a crucial Premier League game between bitter rivals. After the final whistle at St James' Park and when most of the 52,000 fans had left the Newcastle United versus Sunderland relegation battle, a young fan was caught on camera clearing up police tape from outside the stadium. Watch: Passers-by save Chinese girl run over by van

Passers-by in eastern China pulled a teenage girl from under a van after she was hit by the vehicle, China's CCTV reported. Surveillance video shown by state broadcaster CCTV on Sunday showed the 16-year-old being hit while crossing an intersection in Liuan City of Anhui Province at around 6.30am local time (10.30am GMT). According to CCTV, bystanders managed to pull her out in under a minute. A doctor at the local hospital where she was treated said she suffered only minor injuries, CCTV said.

Ship's cook who attacked crewman with knife is forgiven

A 44-year-old cook was handed a suspended sentence today after admitting in court to attacking his shipmate with a knife and causing him grievous injuries. Updated - Malta Public Transport reacts - The police closed roads around the Marsa Park and Ride at about 11.30am today after claims that a foreign bus passenger had shouted at a driver that he was carrying a bomb. 3% jump in employment in Q4

There was a 3.0 per cent jump in employment in the last quarter of last year when compared to the corresponding quarter of 2014, according to the Labour Force Survey. Total employment stood at 186,897 accounting to more than half the population aged 15 and over.
