The Looney Tunes are coming back — but that’s not all folks! On Monday, Warner Bros. Animation announced its plans for “Looney Tunes Cartoons,” a series of new short-form cartoons starring iconic and beloved Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Kansas City's two measles outbreaks are over, but officials are just starting to calculate the costs of containing them. The Kansas City Star reports that the city deemed the outbreaks officially over as of Monday, when there had been no new cases in 42 days, or two incubation periods. The city had been combating the highly contagious virus since March. More than $170,000 in taxpayer resources went to holding the outbreaks to 35 total cases, 22 of which were in Kansas. LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A federal appeals court has upheld a $28.1 million judgment against Gage County and two law enforcement officials for a Nebraska case involving six people who were wrongfully convicted of murder. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals declined to overturn the jury's 2016 verdict in a ruling issued Monday. EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (AP) — The Environmental Protection Agency says dredging of a ship canal in northwest Indiana has begun as environmental regulators continue to study off-site disposal options for highly contaminated sediments. The (Northwest Indiana) Times reports that Army Corps of Engineers contractors began dredging work at the Indiana Harbor Ship Canal in East Chicago on Monday. KENAI, Alaska (AP) — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information on the destruction of three trees that were home to nesting bald eagles on the Kenai Peninsula. Kenai radio station KSRM reports the trees were cut this spring around Anchor Point. An aerial survey spotted the felled trees. PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A new exhibit that highlights Rhode Island's role in helping spark the American Revolution has opened at the state archives. The archives in Providence have created an exhibit about how Rhode Island colonists burned a British ship, the HMS Gaspee, in June 1772. Rhode Islanders feel slighted because they don't get credit for their role in the Revolution. They feel Bostonians get all the glory for the Boston Tea Party. PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland's aerial tram will be closed for maintenance later this summer. The Oregonian/Oregonian reports the popular tourist attraction will be shut down from June 23 through July 30. The tram opened in 2006. It undergoes periodic maintenance throughout the year, but this will be the longest closure in its history. MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — Western Illinois University officials are considering how to address the university's declining student enrollment. The Quad-City Times reports that combined enrollment at the Macomb and Moline campuses has dropped from 11,700 students in 2013 to about 9,400 students in the fall of 2017. DETROIT (AP) — A man who helped run an unlicensed suburban Detroit home day care where a toddler accidentally shot and wounded two other children has pleaded guilty to child abuse charges. The Wayne County prosecutor's office says 33-year-old Timothy Eubanks is awaiting sentencing July 10 after entering the plea on Monday, the day his trial was to start. AUBURN, Wash. (AP) — Dramatic security video shows a pickup truck barrel out of control and slam into a traffic barrier outside a Washington state doughnut store, barely missing two customers. The accident last Friday happened as a man and woman headed to the store entrance. The video shows them seeing the pickup just before it hit the barrier, feet away from them.
