Judge hears claims in lawsuit against Trump

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

GREENBELT, Md. — Lawyers for Maryland and the District of Columbia accused President Trump in federal court Monday of “profiting on an unprecedented scale” from foreign government interests using his Washington, D.C., hotel, but a Justice Department lawyer insisted Trump isn’t breaking the law because he provided no favors in return. At issue is the Constitution’s “emoluments” clause, which bans federal officials from accepting benefits from foreign or state governments without congressional approval. Читать дальше...

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

Science advisers to the federal government say safety regulators should do more to speed the integration of commercial drones into the nation’s airspace. The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine said in a report Monday that federal safety regulators are often “overly conservative” and need to balance the overall benefits of drones instead of focusing only on their risk to airplanes and helicopters. Academy experts say the Federal Aviation Administration... Читать дальше...

Sessions excludes domestic, gang violence from asylum claims

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

SAN DIEGO (AP) — U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions says domestic and gang violence will generally not be considered grounds for asylum. Sessions ruled Monday in a Board of Immigration Appeals case involving a woman from El Salvador whose asylum status was upheld in 2016 on claims that she was a victim of domestic violence. The decision comes as no surprise, three months after the attorney general reopened the case for his review. Asylum is granted on grounds of persecution for race, religion, nationality... A’s pitcher Lou Trivino found relief in mechanics — and doughnuts

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

Lou Trivino has the best diet secret ever devised by a professional athlete: Donuts. The reliever, who zoomed out of the minors into the A’s primary set-up role in the span of a month, was a tad plump his second year in Oakland’s system. He was 225 pounds when the team drafted him in 2013, and coaches asked him to drop five pounds over the offseason. “Funny story,” Trivino said. “The next spring, I showed up at 250 pounds. And they were like, ‘This... Читать дальше...

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

PYONGYANG, North Korea — North Koreans got their first big dose of news Monday that their leader Kim Jong Un had arrived in Singapore for what even the state-run media was calling a historic meeting with President Trump.
