16-year-old pleads not guilty in fatal head-on collision
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A 16-year-old has pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide and other charges stemming from a head-on crash that killed a Montana woman.
The Billings Gazette reports the teenager entered the pleas Monday during a hearing in Yellowstone County District Court.
In addition to deliberate homicide, he faces felony charges of assault with a weapon and attempted assault with a weapon.
Court documents say investigators determined the teen was dealing with mental health issues on the night of the Sept. 23 crash. They found the teen was drinking and driving recklessly when he allegedly rammed Billings resident Haley Kay Hutzenbiler's car head-on at more than 100 mph (161 kph).
Hutzenbiler was killed in the collision.
