Trumps light candles at synagogue where 11 were fatally shot
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Paying solemn tribute to the dead, President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump stepped into the vestibule of a Pittsburgh synagogue Tuesday to light candles for the 11 people slain in the worst instance of anti-Semitic violence in American history.
Outside the Tree of Life synagogue, the Trumps were later set to lay stones for each victim, a Jewish burial tradition, and place small white roses just steps from where a gunman opened fire during Sabbath services Saturday and further shook a nation reeling from jarring expressions of political violence and hate.
